On 5th November 2025, Prof. Graham Lord, Senior Vice President (Life Sciences and Health), King’s College London, and the KHP Executive Director, visited Hong Kong and signed an MoU with the University of Hong Kong (HKU) to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two universities, expanding on health and life sciences research.
The agreement aims to expand PhD studentships and post-doctoral fellowships between HKU’s Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine and King’s health faculties over the next three years. Priority areas for academic collaboration include healthy ageing, neuroscience and mental health, and immunology and pandemic preparedness, with a cross-cutting focus on health data, technology and AI.
At HKU, Prof Lord met with King’s CICM Honorary Advisors Prof Clara Bik-San Lau and Prof Vivian T Wong, and King’s CICM Faculty member Prof Khuloud Al-Jamal, who has joint HKU-KCL appointments. Prof Lord introduced the King’s CICM as one of King’s emerging strengths and priorities.
Prof Lau, Co-Chair of the King’s CICM Honorary Advisory Board, introduced her work on anti-cancer Chinese herbal medicine, her links with King’s and CICM, and the backdrop of integrative medicine initiatives at HKU and in Hong Kong.
